A dramatic incident shaked the elementary school at the Lindhof in Syke! On Friday, just a few hours after school, a devastating fire broke out on the school's roof. The fire brigade and police were alerted when part of the roof was already on fire. Thanks to the quick intervention of the emergency services, worse could be prevented - fortunately there were no injuries, but parts of the school building remain closed for the time being.
The lessons fail on Monday and Tuesday, November 11th and 12th, while the city of Syke organized emergency care for the school children. The police suspect that the fire was created during construction work on the roof. Representatives of the city and the school have already gained a first overview of the damage. In addition to the guilt, the false ceiling was badly damaged. The exact effects on the classrooms underneath are still unclear, but the first estimates amount to damage of around 20,000 euros.

The police immediately started investigating the cause of the fire and assumes that the fire was caused by the ongoing construction work. Around 150 firefighters were deployed to extinguish the flames and banished the risk.
