The Nature Conservation Foundation celebrated its 40th birthday with a grand festival! Founded in 1984 as the first regional district foundation in Germany, it has implemented countless projects to protect our most valuable ecosystems over the years. Today she proudly looks back on a success story that goes far beyond the climate protection discussions at that time!

55 prominent guests gathered at the celebration in the European specialist center of moor and climate in Wagenfeld: companions who were there from the start, as well as committed partners of the foundation. A sign of success? Around 10,000 copies of the "wide -leafed boy herb", a domestic orchid that thrives in our wet meadows, are now blooming on the foundation areas! This impressively shows how important the use of the nature conservation foundation is for the preservation of biodiversity in our region.

The foundation has tirelessly campaigned for the restoration of habitats. An outstanding example is their commitment to the protected areas of small waters, the “eyes of the landscape”. In a very short time, important habitats for flora and fauna were recovered through extensive renovation measures. It is also about maintaining the unique moor landscapes. The foundation is decisively involved in developing sustainable agriculture in these sensitive areas with innovative concepts such as the peat moss paludiculture.

With projects such as "Moor Development 3.0", the foundation aims to regain large -scale moor areas for nature. With all of these activities, the foundation can fall back on a capital of 784,000 euros, with the possibility of growing even further through new donors. The commitment to nature conservation goes far beyond celebrations - there is a clear vision for the future!
