Father Brown celebrates 30 years of theater with eerily humorous piece!
A humorous thriller who was supposed to captivate the audience was presented in the small house on Tuesday: "Father Brown and the death of the Snow White". The ensemble of the Fürth Theater Guest Games brought the play to the premiere, which was written for the 30th anniversary of the renowned tour theater and the stage anniversary of Thomas Rohmer. But the jubilee itself could not be on stage due to illness and left the direction and costumes of the staging.
However, the actors were faced with an additional challenge: Matthias Gerold had to slip into the role of Michael Snow at short notice, since the original actor, Michael Kausch, also failed due to illness. "Father Brown and the death of the Snow White" combines the exciting stories by Keith Chesterton with the dark motifs of the Grimm fairy tale. The focus is not on the search for the perpetrator, but the exploration of family abysses. The innovative backdrop, which awakened in special lighting effects, ensured visual highlights.
unique characters and chaotic complications
Michael Snow, presented convincingly by Gerold, is brought to church with fire injuries, where he is protected from the police by Father Brown. Inspector Malone, represented by Oliver Clemens, has thrown an eye on Brown's housekeeper and causes additional complications. Miss Smith, played by Gerda Steiner, captivates the audience with her quick -witted charm. Flambeau, the former safetynacker, also mixes with and helps Father Brown, the secret to ventilate Michael Snow.
Despite the interesting premise and the promising characters, the spark did not jump over in the audience. The gags did not ignite as hoped, and the mood remained behind the expectations. Fabian Kuhn as a Father Brown acted expressively, but too slowly, which dampened the momentum of the performance. The musical accompaniment of the final applause was also unnecessarily long, which clouded the overall impression of the evening.
