HSG Delmenhorst missed the first win of the season at the last second!
A dramatic handball game in the Landesliga Nord ended for the HSG Delmenhorst with a painful draw against TSV Morsum! Last Saturday, the team of trainer Laura Winkelmann led until just two seconds before the final whistle with 30:29, but a last desperate throw of the guests ensured the 30:30. The Delmenhorster women were so close to the first win of the season that the disappointment was tangible!
"We trained well and were better than our opponents," said Winkelmann after the game. But nervousness in the last few minutes and bad decisions in the attack prevented the double point win. Morsum's top scorer Janne Jacobsen, who shone with 13 goals, made a shock moment right from the start when she gave her team 4-0. But the HSG could not be discouraged and fought back into the game, with a balanced 16:16 at halftime.
Tension up to the last second
The second half was a real thriller! In the meantime, the hosts led with 29:26 and the first win of the season seemed to be within reach. But the offensive defense of the Morsumer presented the Delmenhorsters with great challenges. Despite a last opening and a leading goal of Christin Gensecke, who brought the team to 30:29, it was Jacobsen who equalized with her last litter. The HSG Delmenhorst now has the chance next Sunday to finally take the first victory of the season against HSG Phoenix!
