Cross championships in the zoo: Triumph Ganderkesee and Hude!

A sunny Sunday in the Delmenhorst zoo turned into a sporty spectacle! The popular park, which once served as a count's animal enclosure, was the scene of the regional and district cross championships of the Delme-Hunte athletics group. 63 athletes from ten clubs, including the LGG Ganderkesee, TV Hude and LC 93 Delmenhorst, used the mild November weather to measure their strength and delighted the audience with gripping competitions.

The event was a complete success! Wolfgang Budde, the chairman of the Athletics Circle, praised the excellent conditions and the satisfaction of the participants. "It was a very nice event," he enthused. The championship was originally supposed to take place in February, but heavy rains had dropped the event into the water at the time. However, there was a downer: the competition through other running events in the area ensured a decline in the number of participants.

Ganderkesee dominates the field

The athletes had to master different routes, from 750 meters for the youngest up to 6200 meters for adults. The LGG Ganderkesee provided the largest contingent with 16 participants and won numerous victories. Mille Rietow triumphed in the W8 age group, while Lenn Mönter emerged in the M13 over 1850 meters as regional champions. The teams of the LGG Ganderkesee also shone: they secured three titles in the age groups U10, U12 and U16.

TV Hude clears off

The successes of the TV Hude were also impressive! Hauke Lucka became the best in the AK M9, and the siblings Lucka shone: Rieke secured the championship title among women while her husband Daniel took second place among the men. The overall victory went to Frank Minge from LG Bremen-Nord, who took the lead in a gripping final sprint.
