New life for the Helios Clinic: Modernization before Christmas!

The Helios Clinic Cuxhaven is facing a huge renovation! With an impressive funding of 7.4 million euros from Lower Saxony, the clinic is modernized after the Helios-Seehospital Sahlenburg was closed almost three years ago. The first steps have already been taken: three floors have been cleared and gutted, and the delivery rooms and the Wöchner inner station are to be laid before Christmas. An ambitious project that could revolutionize medical care in Cuxhaven!

architect Maurice Eckert, who has developed the plans since February 2023, has had approval for the construction work in his pocket since September 2024. The construction work will mostly take place in secret, while the existing building is extensively modernized. "There is no insulation at all, something like that could no longer be approved today," explains Eckert and promises a new ventilation system and an energetic renovation of the facade. Cardiology will move to the ground floor right next to the cardiac catheter laboratory, while the spine surgery receives new, modern rooms.

The construction period is scheduled for about two years, and during this time the clinic will do everything possible to maintain the operation. The delivery rooms are housed in the renovated 2nd floor, with short distances to pediatrics. "The new delivery rooms will look just like the existing, including bathtub," says Eckert. Managing Director Tim Wozniak emphasizes that the restructuring will also improve patient experience by relieving the zone compared to the reception.

The workforce is enthusiastic about the plans. "We rely on a lively exchange with everyone in the house," emphasizes Wozniak. The close connection to the project and the commitment of the employees are noticeable. "I know what and for whom I am building," says Eckert and thus sums up the motivation behind this great project. The Helios Clinic Cuxhaven is ready for the future!
