Safety test: Gas lines in Bergen are thoroughly checked!
The security of the citizens is at stake! The regional network operator Celle-Uelzen Netz GmbH (CUN) starts on Monday, November 11, 2024, a comprehensive review of the gas lines in the city of Bergen. These measures are not just routine, but also crucial to track down possible leaks in the underground gas pipes and thus to ensure the safety of all residents.
Totally impressive 44 kilometers of main lines and 28 kilometers of house connection lines are examined. The work that should continue until the beginning of December are dependent on the weather and are carried out by the Dräger & Howarde company, which acts on behalf of the Bergen Stadtwerke. The employees are equipped with portable natural gass jams that can even recognize the smallest amounts of natural gas on the surface. In order to thoroughly check the lines, the technicians have to go every single meter, which can also require access to private property.
transparency and security
The CUN and the Stadtwerke Bergen ask for understanding for these important work that is required by law. The regular checks are essential to secure the integrity of the supply network and to recognize potential dangers at an early stage. On request, employees can identify themselves with tasks in order to create trust and to inform the citizens about the course of the exams. Security is going on - and this applies to all customers of the city!
