Munich fights against ghost construction sites: fences have to go!
München, Deutschland - Munich is caught in construction site chaos! The pedestrian zone is dominated by countless fences and cranes, which makes progress for passers -by a real challenge. Especially the so -called ghost construction sites, such as those at the old academy and the Thomas shoe store, have been frustration for years. Mayor Dominik Krause (Greens) has now recognized the need and demands a determined intervention by the city administration. The time of inaction is over!
The city councils have made clear demands: If you stand up for more than three months, you have to dismantle the fences! The city will ask builders to continue their work or to release the sidewalks and roads again. "Our city center should be inviting, especially in the run-up to Christmas," emphasizes Greens boss Mona Fuchs. The pedestrian zone must not be blocked with fences for months while nothing happens. A clear appeal to the builders: either it goes on or the fences have to be moved closer to the facade!
CSU has been calling for a long time
The CSU already requested similar measures in January 2024. City Councilor Alexander Reissl made it clear that construction site facilities are necessary, but will become a nuisance in the event of months of inactivity. "Public roads have a different purpose," said Reissl. The patience of the Munich is at the end, and the city administration must now act to make the city center attractive again!
