Math geniuses in Ottobeuren: Students master tricky tasks!
In Ottobeuren, the mathematics championship was brought back to life after a five-year break! 30 talented fourth graders started at the primary school to demonstrate their arithmetic. The challenges were anything but easy - even older students would have had to nibble on it! But these little math genius mastered the tasks with flying colors and showed that they had the numbers under control.
Marc Michels, the third mayor of Ottobeuren and Mathemati teacher, was impressed: "The tasks were so tricky that they would be a challenge even for seventh and eighth graders!" While the jury evaluated the solutions, the children and their parents were able to enjoy the Miniphänomenta - a real highlight that let the waiting time go by.
An exciting finale is imminent!
The tension was tangible, when headmaster Franz Grabenbauer announced during the award ceremony that a jump-off was necessary to determine the winners! The three first places, a girl and a boy, can now look forward to the grand finale on December 16 in Kirchheim, where they will compete against the best computers from Eastern and Oberallgäu as well as Kempten and Lindau. But the other participants did not go away empty-handed either: each child received a voucher for once homework free of homework and great prizes from Sparkasse Schwaben-Bodensee, which ranged from pencils to puzzling games. A day full of joy and success for the small math mass!
