Life -saving training: Road of Resuscitation in Memmingen!
in Memmingen recently took place a special day of action for revival, which drew attention to the life -saving measures in the event of cardiac arrest. Under the motto "Check breathing - call help - press heart", numerous local actors merged to raise awareness of the importance of immediate help measures. Mayor Margareta Böckh opened the event in the town hall on the occasion of the "World Restart A Heart Day" on October 16 and underlined the importance of the rapid action of laypersons in emergency situations.
The central campaign took place in the pedestrian zone, where the stands of the Björn-Steiger Foundation and the Johanniter accident aid (JUH) were set up. There, around 50 pupils who were trained as paramedics: were trained on the inside informed interested passers -by about the essential handles to revive an acute at risk of life. The young people received support from experienced emergency services such as the Bavarian Red Cross, the German Life Rettungs-Gesellschaft, the Malteser Hilfsdienst and the Memmingen Bergwacht.
The role of training and resources
The campaign was organized by the Health Region Plus Unterallgäu-Memmingen and the Memmingen Clinic to sensitize the public for resuscitation measures. Nicola Galm, the head of the health region plus, emphasized how crucial knowledge of life -saving measures is in an emergency. The Björn-Steiger Foundation provided exercise dolls and defibrillators as part of the “Retten School” project to better prepare students in secondary schools in the region for emergencies.
In the town hall, around 90 employees of the city were able to take part in a special resuscitation training. Under the guidance of Mayor Jan Rothenbacher and experienced paramedics, the participants were instructed in the technique of cardiac pressure massage. Dr. Rupert Grashey, the head of the accident and catastrophe medicine at the Memmingen Clinic, emphasized the critical role of the first minutes after cardiac arrest and that three to five minutes can lead to irreversible brain damage.
The gathered learned how to maintain the circulatory system by strong pressure on the heart. It was explained that it is optimal if after two minutes a helper replaces the person who carries out the cardiac massage. A second person can also pay a defibrillator at the time that itself uses instructions. This monotonous, rhythmic pressure stabilizes the patient's condition until professional rescue workers arrive.
In summary, it can be said that this day of action in Memmingen not only serves to convey knowledge, but also to motivate and show the community how important each action is in a health emergency. It turns out that quick and well -informed reactions can significantly influence people's survival.
