Meißen celebrates: Claudia Hübschmann receives the first art prize for women!
Meißen. On Monday evening the town hall room experienced an emotional highlight: The talented photographer Claudia Hübschmann was with the art and cultural price of the city Meißen excellent! It is the first time in the history of this award that a woman receives this honor. Among the approximately 60 guests were family, friends and companions who shared the special moment with them. The evening began with a musical delicacies: The duo "Cellikessen" played an impressive instrumental version of Nina Hagen's cult classic "You forgot the color film".
Claudia Hübschmann has been an indispensable chronicler of the city of Meißen since 1999. "She documents change and standstill, joy and suffering," enthused Laudator Raschke. Her photographs are not only works of art, but also important time documents that hold life in Meißen over a quarter of a century. "There is hardly an event that she did not capture with her camera," he added. Her commitment goes beyond photography: as an Aikido trainer and through numerous student exchanges, she also made a name for herself on a voluntary basis.
The way to photography
The roots of her passion lie in a holiday camp in 1986, where she received her first camera at the age of 13. After her training as a photographer in the region, she started her own business in 1999 and has been working for the Sächsische Zeitung and other institutions since then. Her work is not only locally, but also internationally recognized, as a congratulations from Japan shows that arrived that evening. "Your photos are honest and sensitive, just like you," wrote artist Kay Leonhardt.
The award ceremony was a moving moment for Hübschmann, which was visibly moved when her Aikido protégés surprisingly appeared in the council hall to congratulate her. "I guessed that something was on the Busche, but that overwhelmed me," she confessed. Her pictures are not only documents, but also an expression of their deep connection with Meißen and the people who live there.
