Wismar: senior homes achieve record surplus - what happens to the money?
Wismar: senior homes achieve record surplus - what happens to the money?
Wismar. A pleasant signal for seniors and their relatives: In Wismar, the places in the retirement homes are not only well filled, but are also New recordings available at any time! The city runs several facilities, including the house at the Friedenshof with 180 seats, Wendorf with 78 and Lübsche Castle with 81 places. There are also 67 supervised apartments and day care with 16 places. The occupancy has increased by impressive seven percent, with a total load of 83 percent.
The positive development is primarily due to the personnel situation. 39 new employees were hired last year, which increased the total number to around 280. In contrast to other cities, which, due to lack of staff, cannot accept new residents, this is possible in Wismar without any problems. Mayor Thomas Beyer (SPD) emphasizes that the employment contracts of all employees continue to exist and thus the care of the residents is secured.
Financial surpluses and investments
Another exciting aspect is the financial surpluses! Last year, the in -house company generated a profit of 726,232 euros. A large part of this amount, 556,475 euros, will be covered for future construction measures. But the question remains: when is enough saved? Citizenship member René Domke (FDP) demands more transparency, especially since the prices in the homes do not decrease despite the profits. The renovation of the living area 6 at the Friedenshof already cost 234,200 euros, and further costly measures are being planned.
The maintenance and repair of the facilities cost 660,900 euros, while 500,000 euros were invested in new equipment and software. The Wismar retirement homes therefore not only stand for a high occupancy, but also for future -oriented and professional care!
