Wismar demonstrates: for a life without hatred and AfD ban!

On Saturday, November 9, 2024, around 250 people gathered in Wismar to protest the alternative for Germany (AfD). Under the motto "For a wismar without hatred and agitation-for an AfD ban now", the demonstration moved from the train station to the market. Wismar's mayor Thomas Beyer (SPD) was among the participants and emphasized the symbolic meaning of the date, which not only marked the fall of the wall 35 years ago, but also reminds of the pogrom night 86 years ago, in which the NSDAP followed the Jewish population.

peaceful protest without incidents

The organizers of the alliance "Wismar for All" deliberately chose November 9 to draw attention to the dangers of hatred and agitation. During the demonstration, the AfD was also present on the marketplace with an information stand, but according to the police, the event went without incidents. The clear message of the demonstrators was that they set a sign against extremist views and demand a ban on the AfD.

The demonstration shows that the topic of political extremism control in Wismar and beyond is of great importance. The participants not only called for a ban on the AfD, but also a stronger social examination of the ideologies that lead to hatred and discrimination.
