Security risk district college: DACH threatens to collapse!
Wismar. Alarm level red at the circular high school in Wismar! The roof of the building on Dahlmannstrasse/Badstaven is not only leaking - it even threatens to collapse! The situation is devastating and those responsible are extremely concern. "Here we are dealing with real house sponge," warns Andreas Treumann from the district's property service. The entablature is badly damaged, and the risk of falling debris is acute.
The urgently needed renovation was ignored for a year, but now it is clear: immediate measures are essential! Emergency measures must be initiated in February, but the question remains whether the two weeks of winter holidays are sufficient to install a stable steel structure. If not, the school could remain closed until the summer vacation - a nightmare for the students!
Danger for pupils and residents
The consequences are catastrophic: pupils of the integrated comprehensive school "Johann Wolfgang von Goethe" (IGS) have already been given to the district college because the capacities in the IGS are not sufficient. If the district college has to be closed, the students are there without lessons! A move to the empty Gerhart Hauptmann-Gymnasium could be a short-term solution, but there are also construction work that would disturb the lessons.
Those responsible are feverishly looking for alternatives. Talks about the use of the former postal building on Mecklenburger Strasse run, but a solution is not yet in sight. "Security is going on," emphasizes Judith Balck, chair of the education committee. The complete renovation of the district college is planned for 2029, with costs of around ten million euros. Until then, urgent measures have to be taken to ensure the safety of the students and residents!
