Müller in Gägelow: Successful start inspires customers!

With the opening of a new branch in Gägelow at Wismar on August 29, 2024, the drugstore chain Müller opened its first location in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The company, which represents number three in Germany under the drugstore chains, is now also represented in the northeast. On a sales area of 1,745 square meters, the branch offers a diverse product range.

In the first few weeks after the opening, the company takes a positive balance. "The business started very well," reports a spokesman for Müller. So far, around 27,000 customers have visited the new branch, with about 75 percent of sales concentrate on the typical drugstore items.

The offer from Müller

Müller stands out from the competition with a wider range. In addition to the usual cosmetics and hygiene products, toys are also offered, which is of particular interest to families. Especially in the baby and children's area, the drugstore has expanded its selection accordingly in order to keep up with the offers of DM and Rossmann, who are also strongly aimed at young families.

The curiosity and the interest of customers are also reflected in the workforce. At the beginning, the new branch employed 14 employees, now there are already 24 employees who work on site. This shows that the business is not only attractive for customers, but also offers opportunities for workers.

Future plans for Müller in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

With a view to the future, the question arises as to whether Müller is planning further branches in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. However, the answer from a company spokesman is rather reserved: "No other Müller locations in MV are currently known." Nevertheless, it is emphasized that Müller is actively looking for suitable locations to expand his network in the region.

Important for the settlement of new branches are certain prerequisites. The cities that Müller targeted must have at least 75,000 inhabitants and have a shop area of 1,000 to 2,500 square meters. This applies to both inner city situations and locations in large shopping centers that should offer a total sales area of at least 15,000 square meters.

For smaller, independent specialist markets, an area of around 800 square meters is sufficient, but here too there should be a supplementary variety of sectors, such as grocery stores or other retailers such as shoe and textile industry, to create an attractive shopping environment.

The market for drugstores in Germany is fiercely fought, and with the now sought expansion, Müller could take another step in an already solid segment. In view of these developments, it remains to be seen how the Situation for the drugstore chain will develop in the coming months, especially in a region that has so far been dominated by other chains, such as www.svz.de reported.
