Railway traffic on Rügen: Passengers take it with humor!
Stralsund/Bergen in the early morning in Lietzow: The darkness and cold envelope the travelers. At 7:38 a.m., the bus from Sassnitz turns around the corner - just in time for departure at 7:40 a.m. There is a relaxed atmosphere on board that runs, and the passengers enjoy the journey, even if it takes significantly longer than usual. "So far it looks good," say Thomas Gall and Sabrina Stöcker, who have risen in Sassnitz.
The travel times in rail replacement have almost doubled! From Lietzow to Stralsund you need 76 minutes instead of the usual 39. This requires a morning discipline that not everyone has. "Getting getting up an hour earlier is not that great," says Alexander Rittmann. His brother Sven already has experience with rail replacement: "Something always goes wrong," he laughs. Bodo Dokarzek, who travels from Stralsund to Binz, also had to plan an hour more. "If it is announced in good time, that's okay," he says with a wink.
Being on time at the stop
The buses often even leave before the departure time. Lovis Mandl and Emil Thom recommend being there earlier to avoid long waiting times. The connecting times in particular are problematic: "Now I have to wait 50 minutes for the connection to Rostock," says Lovis. The two have the Germany ticket and hope that prices will not increase. "I am Bufdi and I don't want to spend more than 29 euros out of my 200 euros."
Important information for travelers
Some buses have no toilets! While most buses in Bergen make short stopover, travelers should plan in advance, especially wheelchair users who have to register beforehand. Despite the challenges, the passengers are mostly satisfied. "Everything is well organized," says Wolfgang Hilbig from Stralsund. The ODEG employees are praised for their friendliness. But everyone hopes for November 25th, if the trains are supposed to drive again!
