Last Saturday, the second division volleyball players of BSV Ostbevern at Schweriner SC II took an important step in the still young season 2024/25. In a gripping and highly competitive match, the blue and whites secured their first point, but ultimately had to give up 2: 3 (25:20, 19:25, 19:25, 25:17, 9:15). Coach Dominik Münch said after the game and stated: "It was a duel at a good level. Ng, possibly with a slight advantage for the Schwerin who were athletically superior."
The beginning of the game was promising for the East Beverner. Münch praised the performance of his team in the first sentence: "We were able to assert ourselves well and show an effective service game. Such playful solutions made it difficult for the Schweriners, which was crucial to compensate for the physical disadvantage." After the initial deficit, the Eastern Beanns took control of the action and secured the sentence with a solid five-point lead.
The course of the game
In the second set, it initially looked favorable because the BSV took the lead thanks to good assumption. But the guests got on the defensive, and coach Münch noticed: "Schwerin led us out, we became hectic." This uncertainty continued in the third round; Although the BSV was initially in the lead with 11: 8, they did not use numerous opportunities on the network and finally lost the set with 19:25.
The team was combative in the fourth set. The BSV dominated the section from the start, quickly led 4: 1 and extended the lead to 17: 9, which ultimately secured the set win for the Eastern Beanns. The first point of the season was thus secured, although the team was not able to call up the same performance after the fourth set in the Tiebreak.
In the decisive fifth sentence, the BSV quickly fell 1: 7 behind. Despite a catch -up up to 7: 8, the last minutes of the game remained firmly in the hands of the hosts. In the end, newcomer Hannah Theis was awarded MVP on the side of the BSV Ostbevern for her outstanding performance.
