New sports center in Schwerin: modern, barrier -free and sustainable!

A new chapter for sport in Schwerin! The state capital has landed a real bang with the brand new functional building in the Lambrechtsgrund sports park. Officially handed over by ZGM advertising manager Kristian Meier-Hedrich to sports director Martina Trauth and the deputy mayor Bernd Nottebaum, this new building is a real masterpiece of modern sports infrastructure. With an investment volume of around 3.4 million euros, the future of school and club sports will be designed here!

The building that has been in operation since the beginning of the school year is used by various sports clubs and schools. These include the Schwerin sports high school, the women's sports club 02 Schwerin, which is passionate about football, as well as the American football department of the Mecklenburg bulls known as "Mecklenburg Bulls". The equipment is tailored to the needs of the athletes: changing room, sanitary and shower rooms, special functional rooms for trainers and referees as well as a weight room that is used by football players and handball players offer optimal conditions for training and competitions.

A special highlight of the new building is the accessibility that enables people with handicap to take part in training sessions and competitions. But that's not all! The city has also relied on sustainability: a central ventilation system with heat recovery and a solar system on the roof ensure environmentally friendly energy. A battery storage ensures the self -power supply of the building and the floodlight system of the adjacent artificial turf pitch, while solar thermal energy ensures the hot water supply.
