New transport contract: Westmecklenburg receives environmentally friendly trains!
Parchim, Deutschland - The ODEG - Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH has received an important surcharge! The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the VMV transport company have commissioned the ODEG to the new transport contract for the Westmecklenburg II sub-network. This exciting project, which began in the summer of 2023, will revolutionize mobility in the region and brings a breath of fresh air to local public transport.
With an impressive scope of 2.3 million train kilometers per year, the contract will significantly improve accessibility in Westmecklenburg. From December 2025, the sub -network is served with modern, climate -friendly battery -electric vehicles, which is a big step towards environmentally friendly mobility. Minister Reinhard Meyer emphasizes that the new lines RB13, RB14 and RB15 will continue to run every hour on the weekend, which connects the region even better.
New transport contract brings fresh impulses
The ODEG, which has its origin in Parchim, plans to start operating with a new fleet of emission -free trains. From 2027, the first battery -electrical multiple units (Bemu) should come to the rails. The ODEG will not only buy new vehicles, but also expand the existing workshop in Parchim. This is supported by funding from the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport. The region can look forward to new jobs: 56 engine drivers, 35 service staff and 7 additional workshop staff are needed to ensure smooth operation.
The details of the new transport contract are impressive: a term of 15 years, starting in December 2025 to December 2040. This is a big step for mobility in Westmecklenburg and shows that ODEG is ready to continue the success story of the private railway in eastern Germany.
