Stralsund Sea Museum: Aquarium opening is delayed until 2025!
The Stralsund Sea Museum, which is located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, is preparing for its official opening in May 2025. However, the exciting new aquariums are not yet ready for visitors because the construction work that takes place in the surrounding areas takes more time than originally planned. According to Almut Neumeister, the museum's press spokeswoman, the aquariums should only be completed at the beginning of next year.
At the moment it is important to ensure that everything is in perfect condition in terms of construction before the aquariums are put into operation. This includes electronics and interior cladding. These preparations are crucial to guarantee a smooth operation of the aquariums. After this process has been completed, the large pools are rinsed with fresh water to remove residues from the construction work. This is a lengthy process because the main pool holds around 700,000 liters of water.
planning and progress
The temporary opening of the Meeresmuseum in July this year gave visitors to get an impression of the innovations, despite the fact that the aquariums are not yet completely ready for operation. Those responsible have therefore set a reduced admission price to take the circumstances into account.
The completion of the aquariums is not only important for the operation of the museum, but also for the presentation of marine residents that are to be exhibited there. Only when all tests result in the correct water values and the required salt content can fish and other navy living beings move in.
The opening of the Sea Museum is celebrated as an important event for Stralsund and the region, which will give both tourists and locals a deeper insight into the underwater world. The work goes into the hot phase in the last phase, and the anticipation for the completed aquariums increases.
