Drunk at the wheel: Police caught Rügener in a wild trip!

Last Saturday, December 14th, two drivers were targeted by the police on the popular holiday island of Rügen after they were severely caught drunk. The first incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. in Pantow, where a 23-year-old islander was pulled out of circulation during a traffic control with a breath alcohol value of 2.29 per thousand. This meant not only the immediate loss of his driver's license for the young driver, but also immense trouble with the law, such as the Ostsee-Zeitung reported.

A few hours later, in Prora, a second driver, a 46-year-old, could also be convicted. With 1.94 per thousand in the breathing air, this had continued with a traffic sign after a collision, which called on the scene. A double blood test was arranged during the subsequent check, since it could not be ruled out that he later consumed alcohol again after the incident. The property damage on his vehicle amounts to around 2,000 euros.

alcohol at the wheel is a serious problem

The incidents illustrate the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. The applicable alcohol boundaries are clear: a driver can be punished from 0.3 per thousand, with absolute driving inability to drive. In such a case, the consequences are bitter, also because a fine and points in the driving suitability register are threatened. More information on the legal consequences and alcohol boundaries can be found on the page of the ADAC .
