Rehna celebrates Martensmannfest: Neighbors and Tradition unites!
Rehna, Deutschland - A spectacle of a special kind experienced the city of Rehna on Saturday evening! Hundreds of people flocked to the 34th Martensmannfest, where Mayor Martin Reininghaus and the new Lübeck Bote, Stefan Pagel, were the main actors. Pagel, who has only been living in Rehna for a few months, was warmly welcomed by the Rehnaers. "I always felt very comfortable here, now I'm happy to be able to welcome the Rehnaer as neighbors," he said on stage in the monastery.
The celebrations were characterized by a deep connection to tradition. Reininghaus told about the history of the martensman and the delivery of a barrel of Rotspon, which was once brought to the state capital. "It was not just 50 liters of wine, but even 145 liters!", The Mayor was amazed. He described the festival as a sign of the "neighborly friendship" and emphasized the importance of cohesion in the community. "The cohesion of people is becoming increasingly important. This has been lost gradually in recent years," he warned.
a festival for generations
The atmosphere was electrifying! Over 2000 visitors celebrated live music, dance and an impressive fireworks until late at night. Uwe Hüttner, Mayor of the partner city of Holm, was enthusiastic about the “lively” city of Rehna and noticed that such a party was unthinkable in his homeland. "I have been experiencing this every year for decades. In the meantime it is a feast for generations," he said. The Martensmann continued his trip to Schwerin on Sunday, where the red wine finally found its destination.
