Gadebusch blooms: over 1000 flower bulbs for 800th anniversary!

The anticipation in Gadebusch is huge! In the coming spring, the city will shine in full bloom for the 800th anniversary. Over 1000 colorful flower bulbs have already been placed in the earth to beautify the cityscape with bright colors. "There are significantly more than 800 pieces," reports the committed museum employee Geertje Schumann proudly. The residents not only donated from their gardens, but also bought new onions in specialist shops to create a spectacular sea of flower.

Together for a flowering gadebusch

Last Saturday, numerous helpers gathered to plant the onions around the museum building and in the outdoor facilities. "We received tulips, daffodils, primroses, crocuses and snowdrops," explains Schumann. The Gadebuscher Bürgergemeinschaft (GBG) also supports the campaign financially with 100 euros in order to promote the beautification of the site. Heike Hirschmeier and Doris Gallert from the GBG hope that everything will be a bit more beautiful.

But that's not all! The search for a suitable area for a large 800, which is clearly visible by drivers, is a challenge. "It is difficult to find a meadow right on the street," said Schumann. Nevertheless, the community remains optimistic and plans to set the onions on the way to the Burgsee, on the slope to the jetty and in the garden. "I am very excited to see how nice everything blooms in the spring," says Schumann and looks at the celebrations in July.
