Demolition of the old sports hall: New after -school care for 154 children is being built in Rehna!
The old sports hall in Rehna has had its day! Employees of a demolition company are diligently removed to remove pollutants in order to pave the way for the long -awaited new building of a after -school care center. Instead of the dilapidated building, a modern after -school building will be built here by 2026, which will accommodate 154 children. The need for after -school care places in the monastery city is enormous and the city administration has clearly recognized the need for action.
A HORD FOR THE FUTURE
The children are currently housed in the neighboring school, but that should change soon. The existing daycare has only 130 places, and with the law, which prescribes all -day funding for primary school children from 2026, the new building is urgently needed. "The new building in the immediate vicinity of the school ensures close cooperation between school and after -school care," explains the senior administrative officer Matthias Abel.
Mayor Martin Reininghaus is enthusiastic about the start of the demolition. "It took a long time, but now we can finally start the new building!" He emphasizes. The search for a general contractor who implements the 4.2 million euro modular construction is already underway. Even if the decision about possible funding is still pending, the course for modern care for the children is set.
New campus in planning
But that's just the beginning! After completion of the after -school care center, the entire campus of the Rehna school is being re -planned. "Separations are essential because there are neighboring areas of public terrain," said Matthias Abel. The after -school care center, which is operated by the “Käthe Kollwitz” youth welfare center, is a central part of the youth welfare planning in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg.
