Neubrandenburg, Deutschland - The legend lives! The GDR rock band Renft, which conquered the hearts of fans with its unforgettable music in 1974, returns to the stage! On December 27 and 28, the cult band will appear in the Schauspielhaus Neubrandenburg, followed by a concert in the Rostock Volkstheater on March 29, 2025. Thomas "Monster" Schoppe, the charismatic front man, promises that the appearances will be a musical festival that survives the time!

a rock band that wrote history

rentft, founded in 1959, was a phenomenon in the GDR. With hits such as "encouragement" and "after the battle" Klaus Renft and his bandmates delight a loyal fan base. The breakthrough came in 1973 with the first LP to make the competition look old. "We were creative and wrote our own songs, that brought us both old and new fans," recalls Schoppe. But not everything was simple: the band was banned in 1975, but could not lose its legendary status.

A look behind the scenes

Thomas "Monster" Schoppe tells of his beginnings: "I was recruited by Klaus Renft in 1969 when I appeared with my band." The band played cover versions of sizes such as Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple before developing its own German texts. "That brought us some critics, but also many new fans!" Said Schoppe. The second LP of Renft was only published after intensive political discussions - a sign of their relevance in music history!

Currently Schoppe is working on a solo album and is planning exciting projects with Renft. The music remains alive, and the concerts promise a reunion with the rock history that is never forgotten. Be ready when Renft conquers the stages and brought the old hits to life!
