Frank Benischke: CDU candidate for Neubrandenburg's mayor election!

The CDU politician and Neuwoges boss Frank Benischke has made his ambition clear: he wants to become the new mayor of Neubrandenburg! In a sensational letter to the current mayor Silvio Witt and the supervisory board of the Neuwoges, the 60-year-old announced his candidacy for the mayor election in 2025. This happened on Sunday and the writing is available to the Nordkurier. Benischke is ready to prove himself in the CDU's nomination process and sees himself as a strong competitor.

With a clear goal in mind, Benischke explained that in the current difficult situation in Neubrandenburg and beyond, he could achieve more than just as managing director of the Neuwoges. "I can talk to pretty much everyone in the city," emphasized the father of the family. He is convinced that it is important to work "together and with a sufficient majority" for the main concerns of the city. The CDU now has the choice between two strong candidates, and the members have to decide who moves into the real election campaign.

Important choice is about

Benischke is the first to announce his candidacy after Silvio Witt's surprising resignation. The Neubrandenburgers are called on May 11, 2025 to vote for a new mayor. If no candidate reaches the necessary majority, a runoff election will take place two weeks later. The deadline for submitting proposals ends on February 25, 2025. Witt had announced his resignation on October 10, just one day after a controversial decision by the city council.

Frank Benischke, who has been the managing director of Neuwoges since 2002 and previously worked as a political officer at the NVA, has been involved in politics and in sports. He is also Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the Eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Despite his past, he remains a sought -after candidate, and the recent changes in local constitution, which have lifted age limits for candidates, could also play in the cards.
