Fight for school social work: Mecklenburg Lake District District under pressure!

In the upcoming household of the district of Mecklenburg Seenplatte, the social and youth area with a whopping 540 million euros becomes a cost-weight weight. 95 percent of these expenses are compulsory tasks, as Michael Löffler's department emphasizes. But there is also scope for voluntary expenses that are now on the test!

At a meeting of the youth welfare planning sub-committee, the topic of school social work was explained explosive. Stavenhagen students have already taken to the streets to protest against the impending reduction of an important point. Löffler defends the measures: "We have to adhere to the specifications of the European Union," he explains. The EU supports with the ESF+program, but the funds are not enough for all schools!

With only 1.3 million euros from Brussels and 679,300 euros in the district's own funds, the 53 funded areas are a drop on the hot stone. Löffler believes that not every school needs a specialist and wants to concentrate at focal schools. "This is how we use the tax money effectively," he says. But the question remains: What happens to the schools that go away empty -handed?

This year, six additional positions for social space-oriented school social work will be financed from the district and 125,700 euros from the federal state. These expenses are of central importance for Löffler. "We have to make sure that work is effectively worked here," he emphasizes. The documentation is extensive because the EU plays a role here.

The Federal Foundation "Early Aid" invests 174,600 euros in two funding agencies on network coordination. The production school in Waren and the youth art schools in Neubrandenburg and Neustrelitz also receive support. But the question remains: How many young people in the lake plate really benefit from these measures? According to current statistics, 35,518 young people between the ages of 6 and 21 live in the region - a huge need that has to be covered!
