Göhren is changing the hotel into refugee accommodation - worries of the citizens grow

A former hotel near Woldegk will be converted into a shared accommodation for refugees from November 1st! The district of Mecklenburg Seenplatte has decided to end the previous use as the branch office of the Friedländer initial reception facility. Instead, refugees of all nationalities should be accommodated here, but no more Ukrainians. A step that causes excitement!

The city of Woldegk was recently informed about these changes. At a city representative meeting, the social director Michael Löffler was also present to explain the details. He emphasized that the accommodation of refugees in Neubrandenburg is already reaching its limits and forced to promote distribution to other regions. "We have achieved a performance limit," said Löffler. The new accommodation in Göhren will offer 87 places, with a maximum occupancy of 75 percent.

Security and social care guaranteed

To ensure security, guard personnel will be present in the facility around the clock. Social support is also offered during the day. Anja Lentz-Becker from AFZ Friedland appealed to the neighbors to show openness to the new residents. "Fears and worries are understandable," she admitted, and asked for dialogue between residents and the facility.

The first 20 refugees should arrive by the end of the year, but the infrastructure in Göhren leaves something to be desired. Mayor Ralf Karberg expressed concerns about the poor connection and lack of shopping. "We are the last tip of the district," he warned, recalling that there have been difficulties in promoting refugees in the past.

Residential assembly in planning

The uncertainties remain and to clarify all questions, a residents' meeting was proposed. Mayor Tony Hyna supports this proposal and emphasizes that citizens have the right to information. An appointment for the meeting will soon be announced. The situation in Göhren remains tense and the coming weeks could be crucial!
