The women's shelter in Neubrandenburg is facing a dramatic turn! The facility that offers protection by violence and their children urgently has to find new premises. The reason? A necessary move that goes hand in hand with a shocking increase in rental costs! The managing director of the Quo Vadis sponsoring association has announced alarming news in the social committee of the Mecklenburg Lake District.

Currently, the women and children live in a block of flats that is anything but ideal: the two floors are unanimized and not barrier -free. The rent for these premises is already 16,000 euros per year, but the search for new accommodation could catapult the costs to an incredible 64,000 euros a year! The district has planned a funding of 82,000 euros, but that is far from enough. A cheaper location urgently needs to be found in order to maintain the operation. For the year 2025, the district plans to spend a total of 265,000 euros for voluntary benefits in welfare and migration - a little ray of hope in a tense situation.
