Minister Christian Begel will be on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., with Mayor Dr. Stefan Fassbinder ceremoniously inaugurate the impressive school sports hall III at the Puschkinring. This inauguration is an outstanding event for the city, and media representatives are cordially invited to witness this memorable moment!

Modern sports facility for the future

Where the old sports hall once stood from 1977, a state -of -the -art facility is now rising with a huge sports area. The new hall is not only used for the school sport of the Erich-Weinert primary school and the Alexander von Humboldt-Gymnasium, but also for numerous events and in addition to school use by day care centers and clubs. A photovoltaic system also ensures sustainable energy generation!

Investments in the million range! The renovation and construction of this sports facility were not small projects. Over 3.46 million euros from urban development funds from the federal and state governments were available to make this sporty center of power reality. But that's not all! The outdoor facilities are also renovated and offer a real sports paradise on almost 9,000 square meters: a tartan square with goals and basketball baskets, a lawn football field, a long jump system, a shot put facility and four sprint stretches for 60-meter runs, with a further 700,000 euros from urban development subsidies. Greifswald has sat on the sporting map!
