Postbank closes branches: Ucker markets are fighting for cash access!
The wave of the branch closures continues to roll unstoppably! Bank customers must now be strong in the Uckermark, because Postbank closes its branch in Pasewalk. From October 2024, the ATM on the market is history! Karin P., an affected customer, is outraged: "104 kilometers to Greifswald? Do they even think?!" The 62-year-old feels abandoned by the bank and is forced to take long distances just to get cash and account statements.
The closings are part of a massive clear cut that should continue by 2026. Around 97 branches are currently on the strike list, and that's just the beginning! According to FOCUS, up to 1000 jobs are in danger, while the branch network is to be reduced to only 320 locations. "This is the second clear cut at Postbank," reports Focus. The branches were reduced from 750 to 550 last year. The opening times were also shortened, which makes the Situation even more frustrating for customers.
changed customer behavior and outrage
Those responsible argue that customer behavior has changed in times of digitization. But the outrage among customers is limitless! "The financial institution is not interested in us. Again and again you refer to online banking, but not everyone has access to it," complains Karin P. She is planning to leave Postbank and look for a new bank. "Sparkasse and VR-Bank are still there in the region, I'll take those who have remained true to us!" The anger is noticeable, while customers feel lost in an increasingly digitized world.
