Great fire in Waren: millions of millions and suspected arson!

A devastating major fire in Waren an der Müritz has completely put a boat yard in rubble and ash! On October 17, the fire broke out against late morning and devastated the entire building as well as an adjacent restaurant and the apartment of the 55-year-old shipyard on the upper floor. The huge fire, which recorded everything within hours, called for several firefighters who were injured in the risky extinguishing work. A firefighter even had to be treated in the hospital for a long time!

A first examination by the expert showed that the fire from a wooden extension on the back of the hall took its course, but the exact cause of the fire is still unclear. The police are investigating the suspected arson, but also does not rule out a technical cause. While the emergency services were busy combating the fire until the early hours of the morning, the hall was even partially collapsed, which had covered a dangerous metal construction.

Millions of millions and measures

The damage is estimated at several million euros, whereby the shipyard owner estimates the loss to at least two million euros-even though the fire brigade prevented worse by stopping the flames to adjacent boat sheds. The place of fire is now accessible again after the public prosecutor has ordered the use of the fire appraiser, but the once majestic hall remains nothing but rubble and garbage. The examination in question continues, while the city has to deal with the effects of this catastrophe.
