Greifswald loses laundry business: new postal center opening soon!
Greifswald.A farewell with mixed feelings is looming in the Ostseeviertel! Monika Müller, the popular operator of a lingerie shop on Tallinn Street, will close the doors of her shop on October 29th after 34 years of self-employment. “It’s enough,” says the 59-year-old, who is retiring after an impressive 44 years in her professional life. She will miss her regular customers sorely, as she has been a reliable contact point in the neighborhood over the years.
But there is a ray of hope! From November 1st, Deutsche Post will be moving a few steps further to the Ostseeviertel shopping center (OEZ). Heidrun Scupin, the experienced businesswoman, will now also act as the post office. “Deutsche Post pays better,” explains the 61-year-old, who has been working in the industry for over ten years. Their new premises are already prepared and offer a wide range of household goods and writing utensils - and of course the sought-after postal services!
Customer regrets the loss
“It's a real shame that it's going to stop now,” says regular customer Gudrun Last, regretting the impending loss of the small shop, which was barely 20 square meters in size. Meanwhile, Scupin is preparing for the new service, which will be offered Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays until 12 p.m. For Heidrun Scupin, her shop is much more than just a workplace - it is her calling!
Although Deutsche Post has found a replacement, there are no plans to expand the branch network in Greifswald. “We have enough branches,” says press spokesman Jens-Uwe Hogardt. For the future, it remains to be seen how the new circumstances will affect the loyal customers in the Ostseeviertel.
