Lüneburg starts hydrogen offensive: path to the energy transition!
Lüneburg. In an exciting step towards the energy transition, those responsible for the Lüneburg district, together with the Hydrogen Network of Northeast Lower Saxony (H2NON), recently promoted the crucial role of hydrogen in future energy supply. This innovative approach could permanently change the face of the region, according to the district administration's announcement!
The Lüneburg district counts on a variety of advantages: with a well-developed gas pipeline network and enormous wind power resources, the conditions for a thriving hydrogen economy are on solid ground. “We would like to accept the challenge and work hand in hand with all those involved,” announced Jens Böther, the district administrator. This positive development shows that the region is ready to fully exploit its potential and support private investors.
Hydrogen as the key to climate neutrality
In addition, a connection to the hydrogen core network is within reach, which could give hydrogen a central role - especially in municipal heat planning. H2NON and the district's climate protection management emphasize the need for this connection for implementation. Avacon Natur GmbH is already working intensively on initial planning!
With more than 150 companies, municipalities and institutions working together, Lüneburg aims to establish a strong hydrogen ecosystem. “We are ready to use all opportunities to advance the regional economy on the path to climate neutrality,” were Böther’s encouraging words. The development in Lüneburg could give the region a gigantic boost!
