Laboe: New southern mole becomes more expensive - risks and challenges are increasing!

Laboe. A storm of discussions broke out in the work committee, tourism, swimming hall! The new planning for the southern mole in the Labo commercial treatments causes excitement: the costs increase by a whopping 400,000 euros! And that's not all - the new plans also bring a number of problems and risks with them that keep those responsible in suspense.

The construction could have started long ago, but the decision of July 17th has messed up everything. Political differences about the execution of the construction work led to the cancellation of the original plans. The majority of the CDU, WIP and SPD relies on a renovation with a new sheet of sheet piles, while the previous idea of building up a up -to -be pier plate remained in the drawer. Now the ITT Port-Consult office is presenting a new preliminary planning that not only becomes more expensive, but also brings additional challenges.

A pressing of the piles does not work in laboe

A central point: The new sheet pile wall requires ramming of piles, which is not compatible with the existing building ground. It is not possible to press the piles, as suggested by local politicians, the planner warned. In addition, an evidence insurance procedure must be carried out in order to document possible damage to neighboring buildings.

The old sheet piling, which has been in need of renovation since 2004, is now threatening to finally fail. "We missed the chance to renew the construction in good time," said Planer Tim Neumann. The new planning also provides for widening by 3.20 meters, which means the loss of valuable water surface in the port. Wolfgang Jahn from the CDU demands that the new sheet pile wall be as close as possible to the old to minimize the effects.

Another stumbling block is the mapped biotope under the mole, the protection of which requires additional effort. Michael Meggle from “Together on site” warns of the risks associated with the funding of 1.2 million euros, which must be billed by the end of 2027. Mayor Heiko Voß faces the challenge of securing the grants in the changed plans while the construction costs are increasing.
