state purchase bonuses run out of
Another factor that contributes to the stagnant development of this market is the expiry of the state purchase premium for electric cars in December 2023. Its share of the total new registrations fell from 18 percent to only 13.3 percent. Contrary to this decline, Germany remains an important automotive country: Around 78 percent of households have at least one car, as mentioned in the Statistics from Destatis.
In addition, the general trend on the automotive market remains negative, since between January and October 2024 the total number of new car registrations in Germany decreased by 0.4 percent to 2.35 million. This result shows that buyers in Germany are becoming increasingly reserved, which is reflected in the sales figures.Details | |
