An exciting international meeting of volunteer fire departments took place in Hambühren at the end of October! Nine guests from the Greater Poland Voivodeship visited the community in the Celle district to consolidate the exchange between the firefighters. The reason: an exciting opportunity to transfer experience and strengthen interpersonal relationships. It was unheard of that the managers from Hambühren traveled to Buk in February - now it was time for the Polish firefighters to get to know their German partner community!
Mayor Carsten Kranz welcomed the guests with a celebratory reception in the town hall. Highly prominent representatives from politics and administration were also present, and even the mayor of Buk, Pawel Adam, was there. A highlight was the entry in the Golden Book of the municipality of Hambühren! The tours through the local fire brigade's fire station showed keen interest in the technical equipment and tactics of the German firefighters. It seemed as if interesting similarities and differences in working methods had emerged.
Touching memories and technological wonders
After a shared dinner and festive discussions, the adventure continued the next morning: in the residential town of Celle, the delegation was treated to an exciting tour of the main station of the volunteer fire department. The HLF 20 emergency fire fighting vehicle from Poland particularly stood out! The firefighters from Buk noticed that the vehicle's innovative features were designed specifically for the German market and were not available in their home country - exciting!
But that wasn't all! The visit to the fire and rescue control center of the Celle district provided in-depth insights into emergency call acceptance and operational coordination. The team also explained impressive technical possibilities, including the location of callers on the mobile network. After exploring Celle's old town, the Polish group went back to Hambühren. An exploration of the Oldau fire station and the municipal fire department's newest emergency vehicle awaited us here. A banquet rounded off the day, with everyone present emphasizing the value of personal relationships and exchange.
Both fire departments are now determined to expand their cooperation - joint exercises and further projects are in the starting blocks! This international exchange promises to bring invaluable experiences and innovative approaches for both sides. The friendship between Hambühren and Buk continues to live on as the firefighters do everything they can to learn from each other!
