new faces and fresh wind

The "mill spirits" have tapered again this year and not only convince with experienced actors, but also with new talents. Chair Sarah Stabel emphasizes that numerous young players were included in the group. Particular attention is paid to Elias Reichert, who plays with the adults for the first time. "I always had a great admiration for the pieces and couldn't resist when I was asked to join me," he says enthusiastically. "You have to be able to rely on each other, this not only promotes cohesion, but also the quality of the performances," says Karger. He not only left his tracks in Merkenfritz, but also worked with other groups and left a lasting influence in the theater landscape.

A unique selling point of the "mill spirits" is their open actor model. Unlike many groups that have strict selection processes for roles, everyone interested takes a role here. "This means that the pieces can only be searched for when all actors are certain, but it promotes a wide range of characters and talents," explains Stabel. So it happens that the current line -up is between 19 and 80 years old and also includes people with disabilities and queer participants, which promotes diversity and sense of community.

The ensemble members strive to continuously develop. Karger is convinced that every new production is a challenge and does not allow routine to arise. "It's like in a good relationship. You use your experiences to always find new ways," he says with a smile.
