Fate of the Ober-Mörler bakery: Nach tenant is missing, house is for sale!

Kirchplatz 1, 61239 Ober-Mörlen, Deutschland - An era comes to an end! In Ober-Mörlen, the once flowering bakery shop on Kirchplatz is for sale. The traditional bakery shop, which has been empty since last year, did not find a subsequent tenant despite the intensive search. Niclas Röder, who inherited the building from his late father Herbert Dworschak, is now organizing a flea market to preserve the inheritance and memorabilia.

At the weekend, numerous interested parties fled to the flea market to browse memories and finds from the past. Many visitors indulged in nostalgia and remembered the lively times when the butcher, bakery and bistro blossomed in the middle of the village. The bakery was a meeting point where you got crispy rolls early in the morning, while later evenings led to unforgettable nights with friends in the bistro "Herbert".

a piece of history

The history of the bakery goes back to 1946 when Gustav Dworschak came from displaced people to Ober-Mörlen. After the takeover and almost 32 years of flourishing business, the bakery was finally taken over by Frank Wagner in the early 90s. After numerous ups and downs, the Steinmüller bakery was bankruptcy in May 2023. While the bistro "Little Bit" is still open under new management, the fate of the bakery remains uncertain. At a time when Ober-Mörlen was once stimulated by up to 11 bakeries, the bakery on the church square is a symbol of change and the loss of the bakery tradition.
