Mushroom coach junior: Gesa Liebermann inspires with her knowledge of Fungi!
In an impressive ceremony, the mushroom coach Steffen Frühbis presented the certificate of appointment to 15-year-old Gesa Liebermann from Geiß-Nidda, who qualified as a mushroom coach junior. This special event recently took place in the reading hall of the spa park and marked a milestone for young mushroom lovers.
The training, which is recognized by the German Society for Mycology (DGFM), had already gone through Gesa during two intensive training days. Supported by her mother, who accompanied her on these days, she learned the various aspects of collecting mushrooms and determination. Gesa's passion for nature, especially for mushrooms, has been accompanying them since childhood and is also evident in activities such as fungal tours.
an exciting learning adventure
During her training, Gesa experienced how fascinating the world of mushrooms is. There was a lot to discover from the mysterious Hallimas to the tasty chestnut mushrooms. A highlight was the course "Coloring with mushrooms", where she won natural dyes from different mushrooms with her sister. These creative exercises aroused their further interest and ultimately led them to the new training concept of the DGFM."On the two days with Steffen we met mushrooms of all kinds," said Gesa enthusiastically. She not only learned how to recognize the mushrooms, but also what important ecological functions they fulfill. After all, there are more than 10,000 different types of mushrooms in Central Europe. Frühbis emphasizes that the training only offers a first look at the enormous biodiversity. It is more important to develop an understanding of the communities in the forest and meadow ecosystem.
GESA now also sees the ecological relationships better: "I understand why mushrooms often occur in moist soil. They have no leaf green and have to be dependent on the presence of disassembling organic material, which has been prepared by microorganisms." This realization shows how exciting and interactive learning about nature can be.
The symbiosis of mushrooms and trees
One of the central topics in training is the relationship between mushrooms and trees. The two organisms work together in mutual benefits: Trees protect the mushrooms and provide them with nutrients while mushrooms help the trees to get water and minerals in dry periods. A completely different aspect that Gesa also learned is the use of mushrooms in our everyday life, be it as a food or as a component of medication.
Both Gesa and Steffen Frühbis emphasize the danger that exists through human action for the mushroom types. Intensive agriculture, the compression of the soil by heavy machines and the increasing area sealing contribute to the risk of fungal populations. It is an important lesson about the protection of nature and the challenges with which it is confronted.
Steffen Frühbis himself discovered his passion for mushrooms in childhood and has deepened his knowledge since then. As a nature guide, he is committed to passing on the knowledge of mushrooms and nature to younger generations. It offers numerous programs for different age groups and is happy about the interest that children and young people in particular show on this topic.
The training as a junior mushroom coach is not only an individual achievement for Gesa Liebermann, but also a step into a broader community of nature lovers who take place for the protection and appreciation of biodiversity. It represents an excellent example of how young people can be inspired in order to actively work for sustainability and environmental protection. The event and the training itself are part of a larger trend that emphasizes awareness of the importance of the importance of nature mediation and the promotion of environmentally conscious practices, which is also in a current article by www.fnp.de
