Dr. Jürgen Roth from the waste management company (AWB) presented the decisive changes at a press conference in the Friedberg district house. In the future, residual waste will be picked up every three weeks - that is 17 appointments annually. But the Wetterau Greens are skeptical and warn of a possible increase in waste. Roth replies that in congregations with the identification process, the amount of waste was not higher than with the previous weighing systems. There are also changes in organic waste: from 2025, it will be picked up every 14 days in many municipalities, and new vehicles with cameras should recognize foreign substances.

The fee structure remains a patchwork. A uniform system over the entire Wetteraukreis would be desirable, but was not possible due to the short period of time. The municipalities can look forward to an information campaign: a new website will list the most important changes and a hotline will be set up to meet the enormous need for advice.
