Bergheim, Deutschland - A century event has been celebrated in the small Bergheim! The Evangelical Church cheered over a proud 300 years and attracted the numerous guests on Sunday with a festive service and a spectacular exhibition. Processin Dr. Anke Spory and Pastor Jürgen Füg gave the occasion the due framework. There was also news for the church council: the positions are now all occupied again! Gabriele Krank, Stefanie Siebenlist and Andreas Schwenz were ceremoniously introduced into office.

At the beginning of the celebrations, those present went to the historical place where the walnut tree was planted for the next generations - a Persian iron wood tree that not only symbolizes strength and resistance, but also keeps the message of the church alive. In her impressive sermon, Bory recalled the carpenter Johan Georg Baron, who in 1723 set the roof structure and thus the foundation of the church. The listeners properly shouted their words about the need for inner hold in an imponderable times. "Give solid walls and faith is like a castle!"

Pastor Füg, however, criticized the current situation inside and took a concern of the future. "Church is all - it goes far beyond walls!" A clear call to live the belief even in times of change. The community also melted the musical accompaniment by the men's singing association Liederkranz Usenborn and the trombone choir of the SELK Usenborn.

A film about the church was presented as a crowning glory, which put the church in the spotlight as the main actor. The church leader Ronny Herold thanked the tireless helpers without whom such a festival would not have been possible. And while the community is celebrating, the church is already looking into the future: As early as 2026, a merger with other neighboring communities is planned, which brings great challenges, but at the same time opens up new perspectives. "An exciting time for the church," promises Füg with a sparkle in the eyes.
