345,000 euros for new village square: Altenstadt becomes a meeting point!
The forest settlement in Altenstadt will soon become a pulsating center of life! Mayor Dominic Imhof received a generous funding notice of over 345,087 euros from the first district deputy Birgit Weckler. These funds come from the European Union and the municipal financial equalization of the State of Hesse and are intended for the redesign of the Josef Schulmeister Square. The current parking lot is to be transformed into an inviting meeting point that brings together citizens of all ages.
"The redesign of the square will enrich the forest settlement and offer people a place of getting together," said Weckler during the handover. This project shows how living places can strengthen rural communities. Dominic Imhof emphasized that the funding amount made it possible to create a real meeting place, which would significantly revitalize the center of town. The plans stipulate that the new place is equipped with benches, a green pergola and a spectacular fountain field - a real highlight for everyone!
a place for games and relaxation
In the heart of the new village square, a flexible “marketplace” will be created, which can be used for Christmas and weekly markets as well as other events. The concept is rounded off by a calm area with information boards over the forest settlement, a regular garden and a marble field. Tree plantings and hedges will not only provide additional shadows, but also delimit the space from the street, which creates an inviting atmosphere. Altenstadt has been recognized as a focus of the state of Hesse in village development since 2020, and by 2027 further funding will flow to make the districts sustainable. An exciting chapter for the forest settlement begins!
