Cows on the run: tragic accident on the state road 3178

A shocking incident shook the Vogelsberg district on Friday evening! Around 9:45 p.m. there was a dramatic accident on the Landesstraße 3178 when a 20-year-old driver from Steinau collided with two run-up cows. The animals had escaped from a pasture and ensured a terrible collision.

The young driver was on the way from Grebenhain-Crainfeld towards Lower Moos when the mischief happened. Despite his minor injuries, he had to be taken to a nearby hospital by an ambulance. Tragically, one of the cows immediately succumbed to their serious injuries. The second cow could not be saved and had to be redeemed by a tenant at the scene of the accident. A heartbreaking end for the animals!

The damage to the Kia is enormous: 18,000 euros total damage! The car had to be picked up by a towing service. Overall, the property damage amounts to around 21,000 euros. The Grebenhain fire brigade was also on site to clean the scene of the accident and regulate traffic.
