Firefighters in Vogelsbergkreis: Do we now need fire protection detectors?

Alsfeld, Deutschland - In Kirtorf, the fire brigade accommodation is facing an urgent expansion, but the municipal fire inspector Heino Becker sees no acute need for action. Despite this relaxed attitude, the anxious question resonates: "Can the terrible inferno in Stadtallendorf also meet us here?" There, all fire engines went up in flames, which resulted in an immense million damage. This disaster now also gets a thinking process rolling in the Vogelsberg district.

New district fire inspector Marcell Büttner warns: Current guidelines do not require the incorporation of fire detection systems in fire station. But could that be the key to prevent future fires? "It is certain: higher construction and follow-up costs are the consequence if fire station has to install these systems." He also pleads for inexpensive solutions, such as systems that send alarm directly on cell phones. However, concrete recommendations after the fire in Stadtallendorf are still in the queue. "We first have to wait for the results of the examination," continued Büttner.

in Lauterbach and Alsfeld, the largest fire brigade base points, are also already being planned. City fire inspector Jürgen Eifert is dismayed by the Stadtallendorfer drama and shows how important the preventive hygiene is. "Our operator at that time is temporarily available." In the fire station Lauterbach, an internal solution for early fire report was developed. In contrast, Alsfeld's city fire inspector Daniel Schäfer sees no current need for action, since a fire alarm system is already connected to the control center. "Technical defects are always possible," he warns.

While mobile phone detectors are to be retrofitted in Grebenhain in all fire brigade equipment houses, there are tentative considerations for saving costs for possible fire alarm systems in Kirtorf. Becker adds: "Fire alarm systems save primarily human lives, not necessarily realized." These words hang in the air, while concern for the security of the fire brigade continues to grow during their missions.
