City hall change in Hesse: Five mayoral elections with surprises!

madness in Hesse! In five municipalities, the voters were called to choose their mayors, and the result made a look: in four cities there is a change at the top of the town hall! The era of old faces is coming to an end, while fresh forces push into power.

In the North Hessian city of Waldeck, the previous mayor Jürgen Voll (CDU) was voted out with an overwhelming result! Nicolas Havel, an independent candidate, drove a nationwide triumph with a proud 76.5 percent of the votes, while fully brought only 23.5 percent. With a turnout of 62.4 percent, this shows that citizens want change! Alexandra Klusmann (SPD) now sits in the saddle in Rauschenberg and secured victory in the runoff election with 56.7 percent of the votes, while her challenger received 43.3 percent. 57.0 percent of the voters took part here.

new faces in the Wetterau

Wöllstadt, a picturesque community in the Wetterau, also has a new mayor! With 70.4 percent, Markus Schütz (FWG) clearly prevailed against his challenger Sascha Baade (the party), who only reached 29.7 percent. A strong sign with a turnout of 46.5 percent. And that's not all! In Lindenfels (Bergstraße) Maximilian Klöss (independently) was elected as the new mayor with sensational 78.4 percent, although the reigning mayor no longer ran. Here the turnout was 61.0 percent.

But not everywhere is a new wind blows: in Otzberg (Darmstadt-Dieburg), the reigning mayor Matthias Weber (independently) was confirmed with an impressive majority of 88.1 percent. Another sign that not only new faces, but also proven leadership styles are in demand. The turnout there was 42.8 percent. These elections illustrate a clear tendency in Hesse - citizens have the power that shape their cities!
