Pastor Dietrich-Zender: after 30 years in Heddernheim retired!
Heddernheimer Kirchstraße 2b, 60439 Frankfurt am Main, Deutschland - A chapter closes: Pastor Reiner Dietrich-Zender, after almost 30 years in Frankfurt-Heddernheim, decided to move to Offenbach at the Starkenburgring-just 200 meters from his place of birth! The 62-year-old could stay on duty for three and a half years, but he has other plans. "Carpe Diem!" - use the day, is his motto. He wants to try new things, act as an organizational consultant and spend more time with his wife.
The past few years have been characterized by significant experiences in the design of organizations for Dietrich-Zender. He represented the seriously ill dean Jürgen Moser and significantly shaped the emergence of the Evangelical parish of Frankfurt-Nordwest. He is particularly proud of the "Club for Kids", which was launched by urban means and today supports at least 30 children and their families with regular lunch and homework aid. "You are wanted as you are," is the message that is lived here.
a farewell with melancholy
But not everything was easy. The number of worshipers has decreased in recent decades, but the community remains strong. Up to 70 people come together on special occasions such as Maundy Thursday, and the cantatas service on the first Christmas holiday is now attracting around 200 visitors. The parish offices have shrunk, from once seven and a half to just two in the coming year. However, Dietrich-Zender sees this an opportunity for changes and new approaches.
On Sunday, November 24th, Reiner Dietrich-Zender is adopted as part of a service in the Saint Thomasskirche. The provost for Rhein-Main, Oliver Albrecht, will lead the ceremony, followed by a reception. A new phase of life begins for the pastor, who is looking forward to the challenges and joys of retirement!
