Explosion drama in Oberndorf: ATM and culprit gave up!
In the quiet night of Jossgrund-Oberndorf, around 2.45 a.m. on January 31, the calm was abruptly torn through a huge explosion! A ATM was blown up and the perpetrators escaped with an incredible prey of around 105,000 euros! Almost nine months later, on Friday, the trial against three men from the Netherlands, which are accused, began to be behind this shocking crime in front of the Hanau district court.
The accused, aged 23, 30 and 33, come from Amsterdam and Utrecht. Already at the beginning of the process, two of them signaled that they want to comment on the allegations. The oldest accused's lawyer announced that he would make an explanation on Monday, November 11th. The 23-year-old reported on his precarious financial situation, which caused him to take part in the machine blast. After his release from a building job and a debt load of up to 20,000 euros, he was offered participation in the crime as a solution.
Escape after failed act
The 30-year-old defendant, also in a financial forced situation, was put under pressure by creditors who threatened to do something to his family if he did not participate. Together with the 23-year-old, he traveled to Germany, where they stole a black BMW on the night of the crime and placed the explosives on the machine. But the escape was not as planned! An attentive newspaper messenger noticed the suspicious vehicle and rammed it with his van, which forced the perpetrators to flee on foot. The two confessed accused reported pain and regret about their actions while the police finally arrested them.
