A couple from Thuringia discovered the cultural treasures of Kassel - but their journey was overshadowed by an unpleasant incident that raises questions. Hartmut Bergner, an active city and museum guide, visited the city with his wife Karin in October, enthusiastic about the offers such as the light art festival and the local market hall. But with a supposedly simple ticket purchase, the couple experienced a nasty surprise that did not leave their opinion about the city completely.

On October 4, Hartmut Bergner, who comes from Pößneck, wanted to acquire an NVV multiticket at the ticket machine at Wilhelmshöhe train station. The fare only cost 10.30 euros. He threw a ten-euro note and a 50 cent coin, but the machine reported that 9.80 euros were still missing. The banknote remained gone! Bergner made a photo of the evidence confused and pressed the demolition button, which only led to the return of the coin, but not of the appearance. A visit to the NVV customer center did not get an improvement, just a information that someone would report-which was still missing.

Waiting for feedback after ticket debacle

Hartmut Bergner is surprised by the lack of communication. "That can happen that a machine spins," he says. But one month after the incident, he waited in vain for updates, apart from an automatic receipt of his message. The North Hessian Verkehrsverbund NVV confirmed that during this period, complaints about machine errors presented and said the case was forwarded to the Kassel Verkehrs-Gesellschaft KVG. This now checks whether the machine was actually defective. Bergner also learned that the problem was solved, but the money is still waiting.

The delayed feedback and the breakdowns at the machine throw a shadow on the good atmosphere that the Thuringians wanted to experience from Kassel. The beautiful mountain park and art have left a lasting impression, but the unpleasant incident remains a topic that will be remembered by visitors.
