Everyday hero: Kasseler saves two lives and is excellent!

Kassel experiences a moving honor for courage and civil courage. Mayor Sven Schoeller awarded Amir Allawardi, a 61-year-old Kasseler, with the Hessian rescue medal. This high award was given due to its courageous intervention in a serious traffic accident, which occurred on August 3, 2023 in the Bettenhausen district.

On the said evening, Allawardi met a dramatic scenario. He was on his way home when he discovered an accident and burning car on Ochshäuser Straße. A driver was passed out while the passenger was in shock. In such a critical situation, Allawardi demonstrated remarkable courage. Despite the danger that the car could go completely in flames, he managed to free the passenger through the back seat. Under the help of passers -by, he also saved the driver, just before the vehicle had caught fire. Without his immediate and courageous action, the chances of survival of the inmates would have been almost zero

a model for the community

Allawardi, who came to Germany from Afghanistan in 1996, has lived in Kassel ever since. His heroic action was not the first for him. Over a decade ago, he saved a girl from a burning building and contracted serious injuries. This commitment shows that Allawardi is a real model for the community. His two rescued people were so grateful for his rescue that she stimulated the honor that was now taking place. Mayor Schoeller praised Allawardi's tireless efforts and explained: "He demonstrated courage and civil courage in a life -threatening situation. His courageous intervention was saved.

The Hessian rescue medal, which now bears Allawardi, was donated in 1953 by the then Prime Minister Georg August Zinn. It is awarded to citizens who, through their commitment in critical moments, save their lives or avert a significant danger, often with considerable personal risks. Suggestions for awarding the award can be submitted to the Hessian State Chancellery in Wiesbaden, whereby the ultimate decision lies with the prime minister.

Amir Allawardi not only saved life through his courageous effort, but also carried an inspiring message of bravery and humanity into society. A report by nh24.de further illuminates this extraordinary story.
